Driving Anxiety

Driving anxiety, also known as amaxophobia, affects many people and can severely impair driving.

 

This specific phobia can be triggered by negative experiences in road traffic, general anxiety or stress.

 

Symptoms range from nervousness and sweating to panic attacks.

 

Despite these challenges, it is possible to overcome driving anxiety. With professional help and specific coping strategies, as well as individual coaching, those affected can learn to control their fear and regain confidence in driving.

PTSD

Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can occur after traumatic events such as car accidents and can have a significant impact on the lives of those affected.

Typical symptoms can be:

  • Reliving the trauma
    This can take the form of nightmares, flashbacks or distressing memories.

  • Avoidance behavior
    People with PTSD often avoid situations, places, or activities that remind them of the trauma.

  • Negative changes
    These include depressive moods, feelings of guilt, and feelings of alienation.

  • Increased arousal
    This often manifests itself in overreactions, irritability, sleep disturbances or difficulty concentrating.
